No single project can transform the textile industry on its own. That is why HALO-TEX actively connects with other research initiatives exploring new ways to make textiles and materials more sustainable.

We work closely with EU-funded projects tackling similar challenges, from bio-based fibres and cellulose innovations to circular textiles and new uses for underexploited biomass. By sharing knowledge, results and lessons learned, we help avoid duplicated efforts and build on what others have already achieved.

Explore the projects below and discover how, together, we are shaping the future of sustainable textiles.

biofibreloop

BioFibreLoop - Circular biobased technical textiles with innovative bio-inspired non-toxic functionalisation

The BioFibreLoop project will make the EU textile industry more sustainable with a focus on outdoor-, active- and workwear. Recyclable textiles with bio-inspired functionalisation will be produced from bio-based materials.

Cellfil

CELLFIL - CELLulose lyocell FILaments as a scalable solution for circular textile production

CELLFIL accelerates the transition of European textile industry to more circular models by developing and scaling lyocell filament technologies. The project integrates alternative renewable feedstocks, such as orange peel or cotton textile waste, into optimized filament production processes with improved sustainability, functionality, and processing efficiency. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, CELLFIL validates filament performance across multiple applications, establishes frameworks for safe and economic upscaling in Europe, and delivers evidence-based pathways for successful market adoption. By creating a collaborative framework, CELLFIL will optimize the entire fabric production process, from raw material sourcing to final product development.
